Animal Care Fund
Each year, more than 30,000 unwanted animals are brought to Animal Care & Control of New York City’s (AC&C) shelters. Many animals are rescued from extreme situations by AC&C’s field operations. Others are brought to the Care Centers by pet owners who can no longer care for their animal because of family, health, or housing circumstances. AC&C never turns away any animal brought to its three full-service Care Centers (Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Staten Island) or two admission centers (Bronx and Queens). In fact, every week, AC&C accepts approximately 600 cats and dogs. Through The Animal Care Fund, AC&C raises support for the direct care of lost, mistreated, or neglected animals to keep rescued animals happy, safe and stimulated in their new surroundings. The Animal Care Fund allows AC&C to implement enhancements above and beyond contracted animal care services and improve care for thousands of homeless cats and dogs until they are placed into loving homes.
Established in 1995, AC&C’s mission is to promote and protect the health and safety of pets and people in New York City. Animal Care & Control of NYC (AC&C) is one of the largest animal welfare organizations in the country, taking in approximately 30,000 animals each year. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that rescues, cares for and finds loving homes for animals throughout the five boroughs. AC&C has a contract with the City of New York to be an open-admissions organization, which means we never turn away any homeless, abandoned, injured or sick animal in need of help, including cats, dogs, rabbits, small mammals, reptiles, birds, farm animals and wildlife. AC&C is the only organization in NYC with this unique responsibility.
By contributing to The Animal Care Fund, New York animal lovers can help AC&C improve care for thousands of homeless and abandoned cats and dogs, nurse them to health and tranquility and promote their adoption into loving homes.
