LOW COST BOARDING SERVICES
If you are temporarily in a difficult situation such as being evicted, moving, are the victim of a disaster such as a fire or domestic abuse, or must temporarily be hospitalized or leave town, but want to keep your companion animal, Animal Care & Control of New York City’s Safety Net Program may be able to help you with our low cost boarding services. You may also want to board your pet if you absolutely cannot keep him or her and need time to locate a new loving home, you have rescued a homeless animal and need to board him or her while you search for a permanent home, or any other reason you need temporary boarding. The Safety Net Program has very affordable boarding rates available through participating veterinarians, boarding facilities, and foster homes.
Whereas regular rates for boarding animals can run between $15 and $40 per day, you can board your dog or cat for a low cost rate of only $11 per day for dogs (regardless of the size), and $8 per day for cats.
Payment for the amount of time your pet will be boarded must be made at the time you deliver your animal to our participating veterinarians, boarding kennels, and foster homes. In order to be able to provide such a low cost rate we must be able to guarantee that the low cost fee will be paid on time and that the animal will be reclaimed within a reasonable amount of time.
How to get low-cost boarding services: Call 917-468-2938 for information. You will be informed of how to complete the BOARDING APPLICATION and AGREEMENT, make payment, and answer any questions you have. You must provide transportation for your animal to the participating veterinarian, boarding kennel, or foster home of our choice. We must have this flexibility so we can help as many animals as possible. If you cannot, we can transport your pet for a $25 fee. Also ask us about our other low cost or free services that can help you and your pet.
