LOW COST VETERINARY SERVICES
917-468-2938  www.nycacc.org/safetynet.htm

Animal Care & Control of New York City’s Safety Net Program offers an innovative service for pet guardians and their animals – low cost veterinary care at participating vets throughout NYC! If your pet is coughing, sneezing, not eating, not urinating, not defecating, or not moving much, he/she might be sick. Please call us as soon as possible if you need suggested advice on whether it seems your pet needs to see a vet and to get a referral to our low cost vets.

Ask us about our other low cost or free services to help you and your pet.
For low cost spay/neuter services, call Animal Care & Control at 212-788-4000.

How to get low-cost veterinary services:

  1. You MUST make an APPOINTMENT before seeing one of the Safety Net vets. Call us at 917-468-2938 and we will give you the name of a vet in your area. When you call the veterinarian, say that the Safety Net Program referred you and you would like to make an appointment.

  2. You MUST bring at least $85 with you which will cover the exam, BASIC treatment, and medication.Tests and more involved treatment will be extra. As you probably know, most veterinary visits can be very expensive. Our vets will try to treat your animals at a much lower cost.
  3.

  4. If you already took your animal to another vet, ask him/her for copies of medical records, if applicable. Some vets will only give records to another veterinarian. If this happens tell the Safety Net vet that you are going to have the records faxed over before your appointment.

  5. When you arrive for your appointment, you MUST tell him/her that the Safety Net Program referred you. This is very important so that you are charged the low cost prices. If the Safety Net vet tells you it will cost much more than what you can afford, call us at 917-468-2938 from the vet’s office.
