Brian Kilcommons, our nations’Äô foremost authority on companion animals, joins NEADS/ Dogs for Deaf or Disabled Americans as spokesperson for their newest and most exciting service program ’ÄúCanines for Combat Veterans’Äù. The project will commence on Sunday, October 29th¬Ý at 2:00 PM when the first Service Dog and injured veteran team in the country celebrate their introduction in a graduation ceremony
at the Four Points Sheraton Hotel in Leominster, Mass.

Kilcommons says: ’ÄúWhether on our laps or at our sides, dogs have always played a supportive role in the well being of mankind. Today this role is expanded and the need defined through the ’ÄúCanines for Combat Veterans’Äô Program. I am thrilled to be their voice.’Äù
The first ’ÄúCanines for Combat Veterans’Äù graduates are Roland Paquette, 27 of Rio Rancho, New Mexico and his canine partner Rainbow, a 16 month old black Labrador Retriever. Paquette, who sustained injuries while serving in Afghanistan, is a double amputee who uses prosthetics and a wheelchair to assist with his mobility.
NEADS’Äô Executive Director Sheila O’ÄôBrien states: ’ÄúWe believe our assistance dogs will give injured veterans the help and companionship that no medicine or technology could ever provide.’Äù
