Greta has allowed handling and interaction with familiar staff, but she tenses up during prolong petting. During her stay, Greta was observed to be anxious and bite and mouth the leash during stressful periods such as cleaning but can be easily refocused. When she was outside in the pens, Greta became tense and lip curled when a handler was in her view but not in her vicinity, while she was engaging with a toy. Due to this behavior, staff can only interact with Greta using food items. As a stray, we have no history of Greta's behavior in a home environment and we cannot be certain whether similar behavior will be seen in a future home. We are recommending an adult-only, home prepared to work on Greta's leash biting and resource guarding using positive reinforcement, reward-based training. A volunteer writes on Greta's behalf: Do you know how to play Find It? It's my favorite game! All you have to do is throw a treat underneath a bench or into the grass and I will have a great time trying to find it. When I do, I'm very proud of myself and then we do it again. And again. It's soooo fun! My name is Greta and I'm a 3-year-old girl with a lot of energy. I'm looking for someone who wants to play games and have a good time training me with lots of positive reinforcement. In between Find it sessions, the staff is teaching me to sit and perform other cues. I picked it up really fast, especially when the treats are peanut butter flavor. I looove peanut butter! Since I need training and lots of exercise, I'm seeking a rescue to come get me. I don't like other dogs (because they might try to take my stuff!) but I'm eager to learn how to be your best friend. I just need someone nice to show me the ropes
