A staff member writes Hi I'm Kae! Playful, wiggly piggly would be how my friends describe me. I love to play with tennis balls, although I haven't mastered the art of fetch yet. Despite my large physique, I like to think I am a lap dog who's only goal is to give you endless kisses. I may take a few minutes to warm up to new people, but if you give me time I promise you won't have any regrets and a best friend for life. A staff member writes: When I first met Kae, he was trembling and wide eyed, walking slowing on leash and wary of his surroundings. During our first interaction, he was quiet and moved slowly. I thought I'd try to toss him some treats, he did not seem interested in approaching to interact. However, I opened up a can of Vienna sausages and let's call the rest history. Kae walked right up to me and sat, awaiting his sausage. I gave him a piece which he devoured immediately. Kae continued to patiently stare at the can of sausages and then back at me, he offers his paw without my asking and my heart melted. Dogs never fail to surprise me and Kae made sure to keep the surprises coming. I offered him another bit of sausage and he seemed thrilled. He began slowly wagging his tail and offering his paw again and again. I couldn't believe how it easy it was to make friends with this once wide eyed and trembly fellow, some yummy food was key. Still though, I moved only at his pace to ensure success every time and it has not failed. Later in the day when I walked by his kennel, Kae's body started wiggling and he sat at the front, so I tossed in a treat for my new pal. Kae and I began to spend as much time as possible together. He is the one I was always thinking about; a shy, quiet boy who had such a love of food! Now Kae and I enjoy long walks, sharing lunch together and sitting next to one another on a bench (he likes to lean in close!). It warms my heart to see Kae perk up and wiggle when I'm around. While he is still a wallflower in general and does continue to have moments of uncertainty and fear, I know he and I are friends and he knows I've got the treats ready.
