This year commit to helping your community as well as yourself!
Now that 2020 has been kicked to the curb, many of us are thinking about what we want to do differently in the new year. Sure, we all want to exercise more, meet new people, practice patience and learn new things. But, if 2020 has taught us anything, it's that Community involvement is important. Perhaps even more important than ever. With that in mind, some of you may want to get more involved with the community in 2021.
That's where ACC comes in. What if we told you that you could accomplish all of your goals for the new year at one place? That's right, by getting more involved with your local shelter (in NYC that's ACC) you can:
- Exercise more: Become a volunteer dog walker or Foster a dog or even Adopt a dog
- Meet new people: Join a cat lovers forum, meet other dog lovers in the dog runs, start a social media page for your foster pet or adopted pet
- Practice patience: Ever try getting a cat to do what you want? To teach a dog new tricks? Both can be done, with patience!
- Learn new things: How do I care for a new pet? What does it mean to foster? How can I ensure my friends adopt instead of shop?
In January, ACC is holding virtual Foster and Volunteer Orientations for everyone who wants to learn more about joining the animal welfare community in NYC. In each of these sessions, attendees will hear from ACC team members as well as members of the public who have already made the commitment to get involved.
