Careers at the Bronx Animal Care Center

Help Build Something From the Ground Up

The Bronx Animal Care Center is intended to offer a wide variety of career opportunities, from entry to leadership levels. As the center develops, roles are planned to span Admissions, Adoptions, Animal Care, Client Care, Animal Rescue Services, Veterinary Services, Animal Behavior, and more – all working together to support pets and the people who love them.

Why Start or Continue your Career at ACC?

Mission-Driven Work: Every role at the Bronx Animal Care Center exists for a reason: to protect animals and support the people who love them. Whether you’re on the floor caring for animals or working with families in crisis, your work directly improves lives, human and animal alike.

Room to Grow: This Care Center is being built from the ground up, which means so are its teams. We’re committed to investing in our people through hands-on training, mentorship, and clear pathways for advancement. The skills you build here will carry your career forward.

Community Impact: The Bronx has waited a long time for a facility like this. By joining our team, you become part of closing that gap, bringing critical animal welfare resources to families and neighborhoods that need them most. This isn’t just a job; it’s a presence in the community.

Be Part of Something Historic: The Bronx Animal Care Center is the first full-service ACC location dedicated to the borough. You won’t just be joining an organization,  you’ll be helping to shape what it becomes. Early team members will have a rare opportunity to influence culture, process, and care standards from day one.

The Bronx is home to a large and diverse pet-loving community, yet for years it has lacked consistent access to a full-service Animal Care Center.

A dedicated facility means pets and people can receive timely help close to home, including adoptions, lost-and-found services, and critical animal welfare support. This presence helps keep pets safe, supports families in need, and strengthens the bond between Bronx residents and the animals they love.

As New York City’s only open-admission animal shelter system, Animal Care Centers of NYC serves all five boroughs and accepts animals regardless of age, health, or circumstance. A full-service Bronx location strengthens this citywide safety net by ensuring access to services within the borough. Together, ACC’s shelters work as one connected system to protect animal welfare, support communities, and help pets find and stay in loving homes.

A Center Built for Care, Connection, and Community

Adoption & Reunification

This center is designed to support safe, thoughtful adoptions and help reunite lost pets with their families as services come online. Planned spaces and programs are intended to create positive, welcoming experiences that reduce stress for animals and people alike. By strengthening adoption and reunification efforts in the Bronx, the center supports stronger outcomes for pets and their communities.

Community-Facing Animal Care Services

The Bronx Animal Care Center is planned as a hub for community-facing animal care services that respond to neighborhood needs. As services come online, the center is intended to support access to resources, guidance, and hands-on support that promote animal well-being. This approach is designed to meet people where they are and build trust through visibility and accessibility.

Support for Pet Parents in Need

This center is designed to support pet owners facing temporary hardship, unexpected challenges, or moments of crisis. Planned services are intended to help families navigate difficult situations while keeping pets safe and, whenever possible, together. By offering support before situations escalate, the center reinforces stability for both animals and the people who care for them.

Partnerships with Local Organizations

The center is intended to serve as a collaborative space that strengthens partnerships with Bronx-based organizations. By working alongside local groups, service providers, and community leaders, the center is designed to support coordinated efforts that reflect the borough’s unique needs. These partnerships help ensure that animal care solutions are community-informed and locally rooted, as services continue to develop.
